FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CARY, North Carolina, / SAN DIEGO, California, August 23, 2018: Leadership Studies, Inc. dba The Center for Leadership Studies (the “Center”) and Blanchard Training and Development, Incorporated dba the Ken Blanchard Companies (“Blanchard”) announce that they have resolved their lawsuit over the Situational Leadership® trademark and related issues. The Center will continue to own and use the Situational Leadership® trademark, as well as Situational Coaching®, Situational Parenting®, Situational Selling®, and iSitLead®. Blanchard’s license with the Center for use of the Situational Leadership® mark, which Blanchard has been using as Situational Leadership® II, will terminate in two years, and Blanchard will thereafter continue to own and use its trademarks SLII®, The SLII Experience™, SLX™, and Blanchard®.
Maureen Shriver, the Center’s CEO stated, “This clarity in branding of our respective products will allow both companies to move forward without the concern of any confusion that may have arisen by the companies using more similar names. While both the Situational Leadership® Model and the SLII® Model have the same roots, there are key differences and this branding separation will assist us in effectively distinguishing our respective products and services.”
Tom McKee, CEO of the Ken Blanchard Companies stated, “We’re happy to have this dispute between our companies behind us, and we look forward to further developing the SLII® and Blanchard® brands worldwide.”
The Center’s headquarters are in Cary, North Carolina, and it provides leadership training programs and services based on Situational Leadership® and effective influence across the world. Blanchard’s headquarters are in San Diego, California, and it is a global provider of leadership and management training products and services.
