RALEIGH, N.C. — June 23, 2026 — The Center for Leadership Studies (CLS) has announced the release of “Situational Leadership®: The Model for Leading Others, Navigating Change, and Unlocking Performance,” a new book that brings a modern lens to the world’s most widely used leadership framework.

For more than 50 years, the Situational Leadership® Model has helped leaders around the world guide, support and influence others with greater precision. Developed by Dr. Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard and refined across decades of research and real-world application, the Situational Leadership® Model has been used by millions of managers, executives, coaches and educators across every industry and sector. Despite its global impact, this release marks the first contemporary publication dedicated entirely to the Situational Leadership® Model.

Written by Sam Shriver, EdD, Executive Vice President at CLS, and Suzie Bishop, Vice President of Product Development, “Situational Leadership®: The Model for Leading Others, Navigating Change, and Unlocking Performance” serves as both a reintroduction to the timeless framework and a practical guide for applying it in today’s most complex leadership environments.

The Situational Leadership® Model is built on one central idea: leadership is most effective when it aligns with the needs of the individual and the demands of the task. Instead of relying on a single, fixed leadership style for every situation, Situational Leaders consider the task at hand, assess the Performance Readiness® Level of the individual they’re working with and adjust their approach to match the needs of the moment. This disciplined adaptability enables leaders to inspire excellence at every level, whether they’re managing a direct report, collaborating across teams or influencing senior stakeholders.

The authors argue that this capability is now mission-critical. Organizations are operating in increasingly volatile and fast-moving environments that demand leaders who can respond to changing circumstances with clarity, agility and intention.

“Leaders today are expected to navigate unprecedented levels of change while maintaining performance, engagement and growth,” said Bishop. “More than ever, leaders need practical, high-leverage tools that allow them to cut through complexity and take decisive action in the face of ongoing disruption. We wrote this book to provide that support, making the model’s core principles more accessible, actionable and relevant for today’s leader.”

Through practical examples, structured frameworks and real-world applications, “Situational Leadership®: The Model for Leading Others, Navigating Change, and Unlocking Performance” equips leaders to not only understand the Situational Leadership® Model but to actively integrate it into everyday practice. In doing so, this book reinforces why the model remains a defining cornerstone for leadership development across industries and generations.
